Day 11-Corn Husk Dolls

My Dad and 3 of my brothers (Aaron, James, and Thomas) had the opportunity to go to Central America (Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica) for the past 10 days or so. They had a great time and were even able to stay with a family that my Dad helped baptize 33 years ago on his mission. They returned home yesterday. Tonight my parents came by our house with some special gifts from the trip. I LOVE these corn husk dolls that my Dad brought me. There is a beautiful story behind them, I'll just quote from my Dad's letter, "We had a guide take us on horses about three and a half miles away to a village of descendants of the Mayan Indians called Chorte. As we dismounted from our horses, we were taken up by a mob of the cutest children in the world. They kept saying viente, viente which means twenty, or one dollar. They had handmade dolls that they made themselves. We just couldn't disappoint any of them, so we bought one from each".
When I read this story I got teary eyed. I feel for those poor little girls and I'm so happy to now have not one but two of the most beautiful dolls in the whole world.
